Day 5 - Aquarium!

The streak of good weather we've had in the past few days couldn't last forever. However, nobody could have predicted that we would choose a day with lukewarm heavy rain for our visit to the aquarium, until just before leaving the house.

Stepping outside, "Again inside?" a rain-soaked pair of glasses looks at me, and I nod in response, "Put on a rain jacket."

I didn't bring my oilskins just for decoration. And what Gill claimed to be offshore-worthy must now also prove its worth in the urban sea.

There is no bad weather. Only bad mood. Uh- I mean clothes!

A quick stop at Safeway (a supermarket chain with self-service checkouts) reminded me of what is coming next month.. Peace, joy - Halloween!

Just before entering Stanley Park, a final look over the rain-soaked water. My shoes completely soaked by now - The best jacket is useless when the shoes are made of 98% fabric.

Arriving at the aquarium, we were first greeted by two more or less funny gentlemen with cameras. Smile once, take the pick-up slip for the souvenir photo and throw it away in the next bucket. As we looked, we certainly didn't want to be immortalized.

By the way, the mentioned aquarium is the largest in Canada. For the price of $42 per ticket, you get access to the 4D cinema, demonstrations and shows with the animal visitors, rays to touch (wash your hands beforehand and have a towel ready! It will get wet!) as well as of course the fish and a tropical area with birds, turtles and sloths! However, today they successfully hid from us..

Although I would love to spend the whole night here, we unfortunately had to leave early. The next rain shower was approaching and we wanted to be home before nightfall to order dinner on time.

For the return journey, it was once again: Through Stanley Park! This time, however, we took the coastal hiking route.

Even though my feet wanted to form a union on the way there, the view and the colors of the autumn leaves were worth every meter.

We continue towards Totem Poles and Deadman's Island.
