The first 2 days in Bangkok - Day 1

Publicatu: 04.10.2018

When I arrived in Bangkok, I was overwhelmed. I wasn't really tired, so going to bed and sleeping was out of the question.

Naturally, I wanted to explore the city a bit, but I was completely overwhelmed. I had so much luggage, didn't know where to put things and where to find shops, etc. That means you really have to arrive and orient yourself first.

Fortunately, there are 7eleven shops everywhere, where you can find the essentials for eating and drinking. I also wanted to get a travel SIM card because I didn't want to rely only on WIFI to access the internet. Maybe you end up in some street and just want to quickly see which direction to walk. Or you want to look up something on the internet briefly.

Usually, you can also get these cards at 7eleven, but again, the lack of English language skills was a problem. Thanks to Google Maps and internet research, I found a provider that was not far from my hostel. There, I was helped relatively quickly and the card was inserted so that I could start right away.

By the way, I stayed at the Back Home Backpackers Hostel. A small hostel with lots of relaxed people and a nice entrance area.

You quickly get into conversations with a lot of people there.

On my first day, I treated myself to a fish foot massage, where I also met 2 other solo travelers. After that, I strolled through the Khao San Road, the ultimate party backpacker street.

To gather some energy, I bought classic spring rolls from the Thai man next door. There are also stands and snack bars everywhere. So you won't go hungry here :).

That was enough for the program on the first day.

By the way, one very cool thing is that you have many opportunities to refill your bottle with drinking water for free or for very little money. Besides, there are so many nice clothes to buy and a laundry service for very little money.
Next time, I'll limit myself to 3 outfits in my suitcase :P.
