Thanks to the paracetamol yesterday, which gave me a peaceful night's sleep, I'm feeling much better today.
We started the day slowly and were awake at 7 for the first time today (usually 6). I love the mornings (? is that the word? :D) with E the most, snuggling up in bed and waking up slowly, looking outside. Waking up by the sea is just awesome.
The first stop was a small local store where we stocked up on avocados and fruit. There was also strawberry and blueberry ice cream. E probably stood there in front of Santa Claus for 10 minutes and adored him :D
When the sun is shining, nature looks even more beautiful while driving.
A short walk then took us to Whangārei Falls. Beautiful waterfalls with a small river.
We also went to the warehouse in Whangārei because we wanted a buff for E, but it wasn't available since it's always very windy here, so we at least took a turtleneck sweater with us. Now we checked out the Coundown supermarket. It's also more expensive, but offers free fruit for children, which is cool.
We noticed how many public toilets there are here and, especially compared to Germany, they are super clean. Food is comparatively expensive but fuel - our campervan had diesel - is 40 cents cheaper than ours.
With a full tank and full fridge we drove to our next Freedom Camping Ground closer to Auckland. Then we won't have to drive so far tomorrow.
Alberts Port isn't even a town, but at the car park there are toilets, a lake with a jetty and, most importantly, a playground with a swing.
There are more campers here and everything is German again :D
