Unfortunately, today was the time to say goodbye to our beloved Cliff Lodge and its staff/owners. Today, I coordinated briefly with KKL and Helena observed the whales again at Cliff Lodge and saw that they were also "jumping" (see pictures). After a warm farewell from Gideon, we checked out and headed to Hermanus after loading our luggage.
When visiting "Rosemary's Country Kitchen" on Monday evening in Gansbaai, I actually received a fine of 500 Rand because I allegedly parked on the wrong side of the road. I hit the parking space, but apparently the officer did not find it optimal that my vehicle was already facing the direction of departure.
So today, we first went to the district administration in Hermanus to clarify the fine. After several attempts, we finally found the right counter and were immediately attended to by an employee. At first, he wanted to collect the 500 Rand, but when I wanted to pay with the credit card, he went to the back offices and we waited for a good 5 to 10 minutes at the counter. When he returned, a "Staatsaanklaer" (we assume an equivalent of the public prosecutor) had waived the fine for us. We left the building towards our car and drove to our new accommodation, "7 on Marine Drive".
Since our room was not yet ready (we were also too early), we deposited the luggage and explored Hermanus on foot.
Tonight, we will take a TukTaxi to Pear Tree, let's see what surprises await us.
