The rain is over, unfortunately it will remain cloudy all day today.
First, I stroll through the village. Many woodcarving workshops, souvenir shops, and restaurants. All very tailored to the international audience, Asians and Americans, 😂. And they are unmistakably here as well.
After I have seen enough of the village, I turn back to nature. I hike up the Kofel, a 1,342 m high, distinctive peak, right behind Oberammergau. In steep switchbacks, on a fairly well-developed path, it goes uphill at first. In the last part, it's a bit of climbing (there are handrails and stepping stones as aids). Then, after overcoming 560 meters of altitude, I stand at the summit. Unfortunately, the clouds prevent a view of the Alpine peaks. Only the Ammer Valley is clearly visible. How small the buildings of the towns suddenly are!
I always have a slightly uneasy feeling at such heights. My fear of heights says hello, but it gets better with time up there. The descent is already easier.
The remaining way back is a relaxed 2-hour hike through the gloomy forest today.
Insight of the day: Bring on the Zugspitze ⛰️😂!
Word of the day: Courage at heights 😀
