Damn cold. We're getting tired of it. At night, our noses freeze off and in the morning it's hard to get out of the cozy wool blanket.
We want to go south. But we can't escape Germany that quickly. Since I have an important meeting on Thursday, we want to stay in Germany for a few more days.
Currently, we are still in the risk area Austria. We can stay here for 48 hours, but we are already drawn back across the border. From Grän we go to Ofterschwang.
The sun is with us today and we order a Kaiserschmarrn in the hut.
Sugar and sunshine. That's all we need to forget that we were still in the snow in the morning. We continue via the cheese dairy in Isny towards Oberstaufen and from there along the German Alpine Road (308) to Lindau and finally we arrive in Friedrichshafen around 5:00 p.m.
We find a quiet place to spend the night nearby. The weather is supposed to be good tomorrow as well. We can explore Friedrichshafen in peace.
So, on October 14th, we head to Friedrichshafen. First, I'm going to the hairdresser. After that, we plan to take a walk. We want to explore the city. The harbor is beautiful and the Gäbris stands splendidly in the sky on the horizon of Lake Constance, but I actually expected a bit more from Friedrichshafen. My expectations were probably too high due to Konstanz.
But it's not bad here. The sun reflects in Lake Constance and the frozen yogurt tastes good while a zeppelin circles above us.
In the evening, we check in at the 'Wirthshaus' campground in Markdorf. After receiving the keys, we head straight to the showers. Wonderful. :D
Thanks to the shore power connection, it's movie night again in the evening. The video store presents The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
Thursday, October 15th. Today there is relatively little to report. Since my Skype call (the reason why we are even at the campground) starts at 2:00 p.m., we keep a low profile until noon. Yasemin prepared a magnificent breakfast in my absence and in the afternoon we hang around the camper a bit.
It's really funny how many parents are engaged in a conversation with us through their little ones. The big staring eyes of the kids are always priceless. Our Beppo really impresses everyone.
Since we have some time after the Skype call, we decide to drive to Ravensburg, which is 20km away. While Friedrichshafen has disappointed us a bit, Ravensburg fascinates us even more.
A well-preserved medieval old town with small cafes and restaurants. Maze-like alleys make you quickly lose your orientation. Nice, because that way you unintentionally discover something new again and again.
Nightfall occurs at 7:00 p.m. and we drive back to Markdorf with Beppo.
The last night in cold Germany. Tomorrow we're going straight to Italy in one go.
