Tag 14 From Gubbio to Valfabbrica

Publicatu: 04.04.2024

Gubbio is unique. It would have been a real oversight if I hadn't taken the two or three hours to explore, to at least roughly explore the old town. You could easily spend two days in Gubbio visiting the museums and churches. Gubbio has a lot to offer, not just culturally but also in terms of cuisine, as we found out the evening before.

In the old town I was reminded of King's Landing from Game of Thrones more than once. Absolutely impressive architecture. I could write pages about the alleys, small shops, bistros and restaurants, but something like that can never replace your own impressions.

So we continued on by bus at midday. It's sometimes a bit complicated because it seems that every region has its own ticket system, which isn't necessarily easier if you don't really know the local language. But it worked out. The bus then dropped us off in the middle of the countryside, from where we then hiked to our agriturismo in glorious spring weather and sunshine. Since the path ran along a long ridge, we had wonderful views of the Apennine valleys to the right and left of the path the whole way.

So we finally arrived at our accommodation, a nicely decorated old farmhouse. The landlady was already waiting for us with two bottles of beer.
