Samuel is wide awake today. Probably because of the excitement. We go to the pelican feeding at the beach at 8:45 am. First there is a small introduction/explanation about the facility and then the guests, especially the children, are allowed to feed the pelicans with fish. Samuel and Maxima are thrilled.
Back at the campsite we wash the rest of our laundry and have breakfast. We try to have it outside, but we move in the middle because there are so many flies outside. It's not as bad as at Ayers Rock in 2016, but there are simply too many for a cozy breakfast.
At noon we drive to Red Bluff Beach. We are thrilled! The landscape is beautiful, the weather is perfect, the waves are crashing and it's not crowded. A perfect day at the beach! We explore the rock plates and swim in the small pools that have formed there (the water is warmer there). Elija is also having a great time.
After pizza and sausages, we set off for our first hike in the late afternoon. We have chosen the Mushroom Rock Nature Trail. The circular route is about 3 km long and it takes us about 1.5 hours. I carry Elija (he sleeps for the first part) and the two older ones walk/climb most of the way or we carry them for a while (we have a total of 3 Manducas with us, which is really practical, lightweight, and portable, and more gentle than on the shoulders). Samuel and Maxima have fun with the rocks. A really beautiful hike! Especially in the evening light! During our snack break with a view of the sea, we spot whales.
We actually wanted to get fish & chips at the beach today, but unfortunately the shop is closed. Now we have to cook. We have quick cuisine - pancakes.
