Chapter 7.3 - An Island

6:50 am

I wake up. Today we're going on a boat tour around Ha Long and Lan Ha Bay. I seem to have caught a cold. Constantly coughing. Probably from the cold breeze. I decided to wear a thick sweater for the motorbike ride today. Breakfast is not possible at this time, hopefully I won't get hangry. By the way, I extended my stay at the homestay for another night. Maybe I'll stay one more night. Cat Ba is currently my favorite place.

3:23 pm

We arrived at a fish farm. Before that, we went kayaking and had lunch in a small bay. Of course, I also jumped into the cold water. You could also swim to the beach, but the sharp rocks turned me off.

In the distance, I see crows at the fish farm. They caw loudly, almost as if they are having a conversation about the best spot to steal some fish food.

I think we will soon be heading back to the harbor. Tomorrow I have one last day on Cat Ba. I will sleep in and go to the beach.

I really hope for some sun. Today was rather cloudy.

We are on our way back with the bus that picked us up at 5 at the tour office. I already bought the ticket yesterday. My group of 4 wanted to book spontaneously. With this spontaneous request, we practically blew up the bus seats on the way there. There are not so many people left now, because some prefer to walk. Better for us. Fortunately, the journey doesn't take too long. Maybe we'll go eat or go to the beach.

10:54 pm

I'm sitting in the garden of the homestay with my gang, enjoying the last few hours together. Tomorrow, unfortunately, everyone is going to Ninh Binh. I'm a little sad that they're leaving, but that's part of solo travel. We sang Karaoke, played Chinese Poker, had dinner, and drank some coffee. Ujin's family has a chocolate factory in Mongolia. They brought a package with them. We were allowed to try their chocolates and they were simply delicious.

It was a beautiful day and I'm glad they all accompanied me on the boat trip. It was really great with Phillip, Jacob, Ochunda, and Ujin.

Tomorrow, I think I'll spend a whole day at the beach, do some sports, and eat well. Well, now I'm back to traveling solo.

My next destination is Ha Long City.
