On Saturday, the weather improved slightly. It stopped raining, except for a few small showers in between. So we drove from Takaka towards the north, where we arrived at a beach after a short drive on a gravel road and a short hike. There I saw a large rock, which I climbed up on a nearly vertical wall. Around the corner, we then discovered a sea lion sunbathing on the sand. Later, another sea lion swam out of the water, and a young one crawled out of a corner. The animals were very calm and hardly paid attention to us. They only moved occasionally to turn around or scratch themselves. Afterwards, we went back to Takaka, from where we drove to Abel Tasman Park the next day.
There, we had to find out that the path we actually wanted to walk was closed. So we walked the Inland Track, which led us to a mountain with a good view of the nearby bay. After a short break on the summit, we went back and drove to the next campsite. It was a bit windy and I had considered going kiteboarding, but my headache prevented me from doing so. Later, after getting some food, I saw a kite in the sky and got annoyed.
On Monday, we spent most of the time at the campsite, waiting for the wind to pick up. Unfortunately, the wind wasn't as strong as announced, so in the evening we drove to Nelson.
Back in Nelson, I went kiteboarding again. With perfect wind and light waves, I was able to kite until evening. It's so much fun zooming over the water, even though I have to fight for every meter upwind. Unfortunately, I lost my board grip because the screws came loose, and I made Robin wait for 45 minutes at the closed library.
In the evening, we went to see the movie Black Panther.
