Day 6: Queenstown - Wellington

Publicatu: 14.09.2018

It's time to say goodbye to Queenstown, because today I'm heading to Wellington. This city has definitely found a place in my heart. It is the current capital of New Zealand. The security check is always extremely fast here in New Zealand. That is probably due to the fact that the Queenstown airport is extremely small. Nevertheless, you can also fly from here to Australia.

There are some All Blacks fans sitting with me on the plane, as they are playing against South Africa tomorrow. I strike up a conversation with an older lady sitting next to me. She lives 2 hours away from Queenstown and is also going to the rugby game tomorrow with her husband. She invited me to come along.

One thing you should know about me is that I don't really like to stay in hostels. I want to see the culture and nature of a city or a village. That's why I decided to go to the cinema to watch the movie Blakkklansman. It is a comedy-drama. However, in my opinion, the movie should not have any funny aspects. The movie is about a black undercover detective who is supposed to infiltrate the KKK. It is a topic that should not be taken lightly. At the end of the movie, current images of certain circumstances in America were shown. In these images, white and black people are fighting each other. Is all this violence really necessary? I am definitely against it. In my opinion, we are all equal when we are born. The behavior of people can of course change. However, this has to do with upbringing and their environment.

I apologize for deviating from my travel blog. However, it is an important topic that should be addressed. I'm still not really sure what to make of Wellington. I definitely liked Queenstown better. This is mainly due to the fact that Queenstown has fewer people (about 13,000). In comparison, Wellington has around 200,000 people. To be honest, I'm surprised by this number. I thought there were more residents.

It’s time to say goodbye to Queenstown cause today I’m heading to Wellington. This place now definitely has a place in my heart. It’s the current capital city of New Zealand. As always I’m through security check pretty fast. The main reason for that is probably cause the airport is really small. Despite that it’s possible to take a flight to Australia from here.

I'm sorry that I got distracted from writing my travel blog but it's an important subject to talk about. I'm not quiet sure what to think about Wellington yet. I definitely liked Queenstown better, that's because there aren't that many people in Queenstown (around 13'000). On the other hand Wellington has a population of around 200'000 people. I'm actually surprised about this number. I thought there were probably more inhabitants.
