Bei Mele

In the morning, I realize that I didn't save Mele's number. So the plan to visit him is actually canceled, if I hadn't met him at the supermarket. What a coincidence.

At his place, there's coffee with the whole family and the neighborhood. One of the neighbors actually lives in Frankfurt and works at the airport there. For almost 30 years. He spends his holidays here, in his house, which he bought a few years ago. His son, who is the same age as me, was just visiting. He has been living in Sweden for a few years. Other neighbors, including Mele's brother, come and go while we drink one Turkish coffee after another on the balcony. We speak a mix of German, English, and Serbian. Mele often learns a little bit of German in the evenings for fun. He says he likes the language. In addition, his brother lives in Munich. His favorite word: 'Brudaaa'. 'All right, brudaaa'. Very funny guy.

Mele is his own boss and things don't always go smoothly with the business here. Today, the visit is more important. Some customers are already waiting in the yard.

But first, we check on Bürsti. I actually explained the problem to him and Elder, the Swede, translated as well, but he didn't even look at the brakes. Instead, he noticed a few other 'construction sites'. So I made a note specifically for that.

The other customers were getting impatient, so Mele devoted himself to his actual work.

Together with Elder and his father, we then picked fresh raspberries from the neighboring property. They tell me that raspberries are grown a lot here. We chatted for a while and then I drove to a monastery that they recommended to me. It's worth a visit.

Cozy place in the middle of nowhere in the evening.
