This morning we got up at 6 a.m. to get ready and have a coffee before our taxi driver Eddy picked us up at 7 a.m. at the hostel. Today we bought breakfast at the supermarket again for a change.
Our first stop with Eddy was the floating market. That was absolutely cool and definitely worth the long trip (1.5 hours).
After that, we continued with something historical. We visited a museum to see the history of the River Khwae Bridge. Once again, no pictures were allowed.
In between, Eddy showed us a special temple.
After that, we went to the cemetery where the victims who died mainly due to the construction of the bridge but also due to a bombing attack on the bridge are buried.
Finally, we visited the rebuilt bridge. Originally, we wanted to see the railway that goes around a mountain, but it would have been another 2 hours of travel, so we decided to go back to Bangkok.
After we saw the bridge, we had Minced Basil Beef with rice for lunch. For Katha, it was rice with omelette. Both of us had a cola. Today, it was finally a bit cheaper and only 4.36€ in total 💪🏼
Then we strolled around the market and returned to the hostel around 5 p.m. We got ready and went to the famous Skybar, where the movie Hangover 2 was filmed. They said the dress code was very strict, but we tried and succeeded. At first, we only got to the 52nd floor. It was all crazy. We were treated like kings, escorted through the bar, photographed, and taken to our table. Although we didn't plan to drink anything there, we ordered a cocktail just to be sure we could still go up to the top.
As we had hoped, our bill was the ticket to go all the way up to the 64th floor 🤩
Some may say it wasn't worth it, but for us, it was by far the most expensive day since we arrived in Thailand, but it was definitely worth it for us 100 percent! There are also Google reviews that say you don't necessarily have to buy anything, but we don't think we would have made it to the top without ordering a drink.
Afterwards, we met up with 2 guys from Coburg who showed us around the red light district. We could have easily gone there without male companionship, but we wanted to be on the safe side.
In the end, we had a pretty boozy evening that will definitely stay in our memories.
