So, we haven't been in touch for a long time. I have to sort things out a bit about what has been going on in the past few weeks ;-)
Overall, we're doing well - we moved to a new apartment last weekend - as we already reported, there were some problems with the old one. This one is a bit smaller and doesn't have the great rooftop terrace - but it also doesn't have any mold and you can actually use the terrace here - no pigeon sh** everywhere ;-)
Of course, we're also having a lot of fun with our little bird. Especially here in the new apartment, he has become even more tame - sometimes you can't even get him to get off your shoulder.
That has already led to him having to take a shower with Felix a few times.
Recently, we also went on a short hike through the mangroves here on campus. It's pretty impressive how many different bird species are found here at the university. It's also partly a wintering or migration area for many species. And - because it's naturally relatively protected, it's also a small oasis where many species gather.
In addition to a lot of work (I'm currently writing my first manuscript for publication, my proposal, have to read a lot of papers, and do a lot of other things for the university), we still make use of a lot of the other activities here.
In the past few weeks, for example, I've been to a jewelry-making workshop
I managed to convince Felix to come along a few times too J So we made flower pots out of old soda bottles and yogurt cups
And recently, we painted pumpkins to go with Halloween.
Haha, now he has to become a real husband - that's the alternative to craft and pottery markets.
No kidding, there are just a lot of such activities - and it's fun to participate (I think he enjoys it too). Many people here don't take advantage of them - which I don't understand. Almost always, the materials are provided free of charge, you get a break from work, and you can also make something personal for your apartment. (And at the end of our time here, you don't feel guilty about throwing it away ;-) )
Of course, we've also been diving again - now that it's relatively easy to reach different reefs from the university, we will definitely go out regularly. (You don't have to dive for your work at the moment - but hopefully soon).
Here are some impressions from our recent diving trips:
Oh, and we had an internal conference here at the center. Where I presented the results of my internship experiment with a poster.
Latest update - I'm currently a straw widow, because Felix is in Italy diving around Giglio Island J Since there is still no decision about his position, he had the time to go back there and participate in Barakuda's technical leadership exam.
That's all from us for now.
We'll see many of you again soon - our Christmas flights are already booked! Felix will arrive on the 16th and I will arrive on the 19th in Germany J
Lots of love
Felix, Juergen, and Susann
