This week we took the ferry back to the North Island. Before that, we stayed in Nelson for three days (with a quick stop at Nugget Point) as we thought we could get the car repaired. Well... the clocks are ticking differently here and the insurance is taking its time. We hope to have everything sorted before we leave. So instead, we enjoyed the good weather and went swimming in the Tasman Sea for the FIRST TIME!
Back on the North Island, we had our steering fixed in Wellington, as we were told in the second workshop that it's too dangerous to continue driving. We'll get the rest fixed once we get the 'go' from the insurance ^^
After waiting for our car until 5pm, we - completely crazy - drove further up to New Plymouth. We spent the days here hiking in Egmont National Park (...I hate stairs!!) and in Ratapihipihi Scenic Reserve. Last night, we went jogging here on the coastal walkway and were rewarded with a spectacular sunset.
Tomorrow we will continue to Taupo. For those who remember - the Tongariro Crossing is still waiting for us, which Paddy and I had to postpone once already due to the weather conditions.
Big kisses to Germany!
