My bike journey was slowly coming to an end. Due to my stay in Rimini, I only had a few days left for cycling and wanted to use them for a small tour through Tuscany. Unfortunately, it was a bit further away than planned, so for a change, I decided to use a different mode of transportation.
At the train station in Rimini, I managed to get myself a ticket to Florence with a transfer in Faenza. Once again, it turned out that Italian train stations are not really bike-friendly. There are elevators, but unfortunately, they are too short to fit a bicycle. Bike compartments on the trains are also rare. If you want to book a bike, 75% of the displayed trains are no longer an option.
In Rimini, I had enough time to dismantle everything and carry it down and up a few stairs. The transfer in Faenza was tight, but I was lucky. On the train to Florence, I met an Italian cyclist who showed me some photos and asked many questions about my tour through Asia.
In the evening in Florence, I had a difficult decision to make. There were only campsites that were quite far from the city center and had poor reviews. I decided to aim for a hotel for the first time in a long time. It was a bit outside of my budget, but the breakfast buffet was worth it. The bike was also allowed to stay in the room, which I definitely preferred in the city center. In the evening, I cooked on the small balcony before falling into the cozy bed.
The next morning, I got up early again. I wanted to use the morning to explore the city before continuing my bike tour. The city offered so many beautiful things, and I definitely want to come back!
