After it was really loud last night in the Rudy, it's only drizzling a little this morning. Opportunity to enjoy the first coffee in the Rudy bed and plan the day.
Around midday the sky clears and we cycle to Sète, about 10 km away.
Sète is a really beautiful city, with canals like Venice, a large harbor and long beaches.
The port of Sète serves, among other things, fishing ( sardines , mackerel and tuna ). Sète is the most important French fishing port on the Mediterranean
The port is also used for the export of wine and ferry traffic to North Africa .
Furthermore, the western side of the wastewater-free lagoon of the Étang de Thau (fed by the Canal du Midi with lime-rich water from the Pyrenees ) is an ideal place for oyster farming – 20 percent of French oyster production grows here, as well as the farming of mussels .
We're really lucky with the weather today and it's nicer than expected. However, it's quite windy and cool for the Mediterranean.
At least several beach bars have already opened.
And what does the Frenchman do in the afternoon?
As the mosquitoes attack again in the evening, we spend the evening on the beach. It's really unbelievable how many mosquitoes there are here. As soon as you open the door, you're practically attacked.
