So 10.10. Kerimäki - Hike to the Forest Church

In the morning misty, later overcast, but dry

We take it easy today. We do some household chores, find out about interesting places on the way to Helsinki, and set off for a short hike shortly before eleven o'clock.

At the reception of the cabin village, we received several hiking plans, all of which are in the area. We choose the longest route, which will also allow us to explore the first kilometers of our bike tour tomorrow.

After a slightly difficult start, we find the right path, it meanders through birch and spruce forests, and we notice how straight the trees reach for the sky.

Our path winds around three small lakes,

until we reach the Forest Church, Metsäkirkko, at the top of the largest lake.

It is a very beautiful and peaceful place where we can sit for a while.

Nearby, Gondula finds an area with lots of wild cranberries and can barely part with them. She picks as many as she can carry and considers going back for more later.

After a late lunch break, she actually goes out again and picks a bowl full of cranberries, next to a golf course! It's busy here, on Sunday afternoons it seems like everyone is meeting up for golf, and the hard little golf balls are flying everywhere...

In the evening, we light the fireplace again, eat a delicious quiche, and have to drink wine and beer because we don't have any drinking water left...
