After breakfast, I went to the meeting again for about 15 minutes, and I think I would still get lost by myself 🥴
First, my group had to help unload a truck filled with fruits and vegetables (I carried a watermelon 🤣🍉), as well as 50kg bags of animal feed. However, that was done relatively quickly 💪🏼
Afterwards, we helped sterilize the sheep and goats. This involved crushing the spermatic cords with a huge Burdizzo clamp... it wasn't a pleasant sight to see 🥺
We also did smaller tasks, like trimming the dogs' claws and freeing kittens found in the bushes from larvae of the Tumbu fly, which form under the skin and eat their way out 🤢
After lunch break, we went into the bush with the San people (the oldest population group in Namibia). Each family stays in Harnas for a year to teach us volunteers about their culture. We learned a lot about the plants they use and their original way of living, which was really fascinating.
After dinner, I treated myself to a brownie for dessert today 🤤
