Stamey`S Barbecue - Greensboro, NC

Gipatik: 14.10.2022

Number 2 out of 4 today was Stamey's Barbecue in Greensboro, NC. They have been smoking BBQ there for an incredible 92 years. Warner Stamey, born in 1911, learned his craft from the founders of the BBQ scene in NC, Jess Swicegood and Sid Weaver. By the way, this was the first stop with Lexington Style BBQ. They use hickory wood for smoking. There is another location in Greensboro, but the meat is prepared at the location where we were and then delivered to the second location. Steffi ordered a salad and chili cheese fries, and I chose chicken, pork, cole slaw, and hushpuppies. Steffi was still full from the previous restaurant visit, so a small salad was a good choice. The fries were okay, but nothing special. I received coleslaw for the first time, which had a large amount of ketchup. The taste was rather unusual. The vinegar-based sauce also had a certain amount of tomatoes, unlike the sauces in the western part of the state. There was nothing to complain about the meat and poultry. It tasted really good. The cole slaw was tasty as well, when eaten with the meat. However, as a standalone side dish, I don't think I can warm up to it. The hushpuppies, on the other hand, were delicious. They were served in a longer shape, rather than as balls, and were crispy and fluffy. For dessert, we had a typical NC dessert: cobbler, peach and cherry flavors, served with ice cream. The fruits were mixed with a dough crust that was completely mixed into the dessert. Everything was served warm. The ice cream paired well with it. Overall, it was a very successful dessert that you should definitely try if you're in NC. Stamey's is an institution of Lexington Style BBQ. Unfortunately, I have to once again highly recommend a visit here!
