The cathedral and the route to the flying event.

Gipatik: 03.02.2024

I walked to the main square and it was closed again. There was probably another demonstration approaching, but that's why I went into the cathedral. The entrance fee of 30 soles (approx. 7€) is already expensive, but I got a discount and it's worth it. You get a lot on offer and can look at everything on your own or have a guide explain everything to you. My guide shared his knowledge with a lot of passion and joy. It was very entertaining, but I was a little worried about the time. At 4 p.m. I would have the paragliding flight at the sea, I had a quick look at the route and it was actually just along the coast. I continued the tour in the church on my own and then quickly went out to the bus. I still had over two hours left, but I wasn't expecting the traffic in Lima either. First we waited 25 minutes for the bus, which was so full. So everything just stuck and everyone tried to squeeze into the bus. The journey was really a hell of a ride and if I wasn't pressed for time I would have continued on foot. Then I went to the sea and then up the coast. And the path dragged and dragged. By now we only had 45 minutes left and it was also stated that if we were late the flight would be forfeited. I slowly started to panic, put on my sneakers and started jogging every now and then. I really underestimated the route. I also had to go down to the beach, which took another 15 minutes. I was really exhausted and thought "screw it" the whole time, but it was also $70. I moved on, cursing my poor planning. Then I jogged longer and longer distances and then flew there. Luckily I didn't hurt myself too much. My right foot hurt a little, but nothing major. But it was already 4 p.m. About 5 minutes later I arrived at the tent full of energy and they told me to relax. Then I showed my ticket and they said I was in the wrong place. So I had to go on for another 5 minutes and thought to myself that it was definitely too late. But the guy was very relaxed and told me to sit down first. I was completely knocked out, but luckily the flight could still take place. I was relieved that all the exertion was worth it and I rested in the chair while he did the paperwork.
