As days go by

Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Friday I finally did the Free Walking Tour through the city. We started at 10.30 am in front of the library and headed to the Old Melbourne Gaol. A lot of information to process during the tour but definitely worth it as you get to know a city better, when you got locals to show you around and tell you something about their city. We saw Carlton Gardens, the Parliament, the CBD (Central Business District), Chinatown and many more and as the organisation of the tour (I'm free) turned 3 this year we even got free cupcakes. I was surprised how many streets you can find in Melbourne where you find graffiti in so many colours. We even saw the first shop where they served coffee and over the decades it developed. I met a girl at the tour and after we finished the tour we went down to the Memorial of World War and could enjoy the fantastic view of the city. Unfortunately it started slightly to rain and though we left and head back to the city. I went back to the library where I visited one of the exhibitions you'll find there and I was even lucky because I could get to know a little bit more of what was shown as there was someone who explained it to visitors. In the evening I went out for a drink and dumblings with my friends Jana and Ingrid who showed me what it means. The evening was great and later we went home. Fortunately everything within the city is walkable, though you don't need to wait for a tram or bus.

Saturday we went down to St. Kilda where my friends bought a house and did some renovations and enjoyed the beach afterwards. The weather was great, not too cold and you could even admire some windsurfers at the beach and in the water. You have a fantastic view over the skyline of Melbourne and the bay and even find shells.

Sunday we did some more renovations and enjoyed the rest of the day sitting by the beach with ice cream. On this part of the beach you have coloured little houses where people can keep their beach tools. It's a nice location for taking pictures.
