Capdepera, Drehfunkfeuer CDP VOR-DME

Gipatik: 06.07.2024

There is a rotating radio beacon in the south of the town of Capdepera. These antennas are part of aviation navigation. There are a few impressive pictures online and the place is also said to have a gigantic view. Equipped with our bikes, we have already taken on one or two challenges in the mountains. So we were doubly, if not triply motivated: 1. the view, 2. the challenge to our technology and 3. the market square in Capdepera is on the way back, where we will receive the appropriate reward.

A very well-developed road leads up the mountain. The gradient indicated by our satnav was marked as "very steep", which of course did not deter us from our plan. My first officer set off leisurely, and I, who felt like I weighed 90 kg, had to pedal hard right from the start. The climb is 1.1 km long. There are also a few sections that are much flatter, and you can even switch to the second gear. Today I know that this only fuels ambition; the further up you go, the steeper the path becomes, as if the people building it had finally realized that they no longer had enough space and the difference in altitude. I had long since lost sight of my first officer, so I was completely on my own. My Chinese bike refused to work for the last 200 m, so I had no choice but to push the bike if I wanted to enjoy the amazing view, not to mention whether I would actually have earned the beer in the market square.
