Day 43 - the morning day

Gipatik: 07.02.2023

07.02.23

How about getting all the pending tasks of the day done before noon? That wouldn't be so bad. That's how it feels today. Let's start at the beginning. At 5:45 the alarm clock wakes us up. We plan to finally watch the sunrise today. According to the web, it should be around 6:20. Since we still have to walk about one kilometer on the wooden bridge, we get up early. When we leave the campsite, we see a massive layer of clouds on the horizon. It's clear what that means.

Despite the clouds, we continue walking forward. Because once the sun has overcome the clouds, there is still something like a sunrise. Suddenly, we start walking faster on the way. The sun actually peeks through the clouds and the horizon. Exactly one diameter is visible. Almost missed and now check! We also watch the 'second' sunrise.

We return at 7:15 am and see two smaller rays in the shallow sea. Today we have breakfast with toasted rolls. Then it's time to wash up, pack, finalize the daily plan and set off. Our first destination is Coffs Harbour. A bigger city by the sea. We guide Vicky to a huge gravel parking lot. Once we get out, an older man approaches us. He has an appointment with his son at 10 o'clock. It's 9:58 and he still has time. By the way, his name is Dan and he's an entertaining guy. He tells us about his hobbies, experiences, alternative medicine, excursion tips and even shows us a video on his mobile phone. At 10:10 am his son arrives and we (finally) move on.

At the harbor, we walk along the jetty and up a hill. It's oppressively warm and at 11 o'clock we return to Vicky to get our bathing suits. A jump in the sea is necessary. Done. We dry ourselves in the sun and then head to a PopUp Coffee. There we have - no, not cappuccino - two large chai lattes with cinnamon. At 11:59, we happily sit in the shade, overlooking the harbor and enjoying two delicious drinks.

It's noon and everything is done: sunrise, breakfast, washing up, car ride, hike, swimming, coffee break - perfect :) What comes next is just an extra. Because we drive to Evans Head (about 2 hours), check in at the campsite, have a fruit snack, read/sleep on the beach, cook dinner, take a shower and try to write a creative report. Suddenly, the sky darkens a bit. A mega flock of bats sets off towards the northwest. They fly over our heads for a good 8 minutes.
