Successless sailing natural parks

Gipatik: 26.01.2020

I planned to go sailing with Oluf but everything was against us. At first the motor of the dinghy (a small boat to get to the actual sailing boat) didn't work properly, we had to repair it at home. The wind was coming straight from where we wanted to go and zigzagging would have been even slower then just driving out with the motor, according to the Captain (Oluf).

Us, leaving the bay

Then the rope that connected the dinghy to the sailing boat ripped and we had to retrieve the dinghy. As we made after 2 hours one quarter of the way, the waves became really high and we decided to turn around and not go to Moreton Island. If we would have arrived safely, it would have been really late, which makes it difficult to find a safe spot to sleep over night.

It looked very comfortable tho

The next day I met Tim, my cousin, and we had a great time just strolling through the city and talking again after all that time we didn't see each other. It's been really great.

We saw these climate activists on the street. The government here still doesn't acknowledge the fact that climate change exists.
We had amazing Korean food later that day
Dani was so kind and invited us 👍

On the following day I went with Dani, Oluf and Sasha (their dog, a black Labrador) for some hiking in Springbrook national park and it has been really beautiful!

The way was about half the time concrete which made walking really easy
First stop a cave called 'natural bridge'
We even could go inside. Swimming was sadly strongly prohibited and fines here in Australia are usually absurdly high.
This is the view from above
Another waterfall. It became really foggy, this is the best shot I got.

The hiking trail led us all the way down to the bottom of the waterfall.

This thing is HUGE. There are people in the water swimming but you almost can't see them..
Close up of the lower part
But not just waterfalls are huge, there are also some really massive trees.
As we continued hiking we found another waterfall, deeper in the jungle, smaller but very idyllic.
More like a jungle lake
I couldn't resist to jump in myself
The tall waterfall as we went back.
We made it! Oluf didn't feel like hiking and took a nap in the car while we were away.

Afterwards we had some typical Chinese food, to which also was very good.

Australia is this layd back holiday I though it would be and I'm loving it. Really great. But there is more stuff to come, so stay tight and see you next time!

Love n peace
