West Coast USA - Day 5 - Grand Canyon National

Today we drove from our camp in Kingman towards Grand Canyon National Park. After about 2 1/2 hours of driving, we arrived around 11:30 am.

We chose the South Rim because it is the most developed for tourists. First, we walked directly to the first viewpoint in Grand Canyon Village. With perfect weather, the first view was breathtaking (#amazing). Then we hiked about 5 km on the Rim Trail along the edge of the canyon. This short hike gave us a great overview of the beauty of the canyon.

After the hike, we took the shuttle bus back to the Visitor Center.

After a little refreshment, we headed to the more distant viewpoints in the east.

We had plenty of time to make a stop at each point, and then we chose Hopi Point to watch the sunset. A great ending to a successful day.
