Hi Guys,
today was for us the last full day in Auckland for now.
We started this day with a shower, breakfast, and a hot coffee.
Then we walked around the city and checked out where we can buy groceries, camping gear, etc in New Zealand that is good and affordable.
After I tried the New Zealand kebab, which unfortunately cannot compete with the German kebab, we went to the Auckland Domain Park. On the way to the park, we noticed a special feature of New Zealand, the weather!
Rain, sunshine, rain, hail, sunshine... the weather here fluctuates like we have never experienced before! However, I have learned that I will always have my rain jacket with me. The change between different weather conditions is really fast here.
After we got caught in a heavy rain shower on the way and were completely soaked because it was sunny when we left the hostel and we left our jackets there, we reached the park.
Many palm trees, beautiful unusual trees, and much more awaited us. The park itself is built on the crater of an inactive volcano. A really beautiful spot on earth.
We enjoyed the nature in the park for a while and then, due to another extreme rain shower, we took an "Uber" to the supermarket. It may seem like a waste of money, but in the end, there is something nicer than walking 2.5 km in pouring rain, in a t-shirt, against the wind to the supermarket.
In the supermarket, we bought some groceries and then returned to the hostel. In the hostel, we played a few rounds of cards until I cooked something and then we had one last beer on the rooftop terrace.
Tomorrow on the plan is the pick-up of our car and the start of our road trip across the whole country!
If we have good reception, I will let you know tomorrow how everything went!
Until then! 💪🏼
Greetings from Auckland, New Zealand! 🇳🇿
Yours Tim! 😊
