We, Birgit, Ralf and Finia Schichterich (Schichis), want to finally enjoy the scent of a great vacation after 2 lean Corona years.
Since we all love Italy and have already visited some beautiful places (Lake Garda, Florence, Pisa, Tuscany, South Tyrol), we thought that we should also explore the rest of the beautiful country - and this with full input in the form of an Italy round trip with our own car.
Our planning started in Q4 2021 with first ideas and places we wanted to see. We informed ourselves about possible dream destinations in Italy on the internet, YouTube, and other media. This, coupled with our own wishes, resulted in a first possible travel route with corresponding places. In a night action, we booked our accommodations in the respective places. It was important to consider that we can take our little Luna (Mini-Maltese) with us and that ideally we are close to the sea. Furthermore, we also had the kilometers to be covered in mind, so that in the end we only have 2 longer trips and in between only small drives to manage. Said - done.
Our initial plans were as follows:
2 nights in Hohenschwangau as the first stopover with a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle
3 nights in Rimini
3 nights in Palagiunella (as a base station for the heel of Italy)
5 nights in Tropea
6 nights in Solerno
2 nights in Rome
1 night at the Brenner Pass
Total distance: 4,246 kilometers in 22 days
After about 6 hours, we arrived in Hohenschwangau at our hotel Alpenstuben.
Day 1:
After arrival, we ate something in our rooms and then went to our room. Then we drove to Füssen and visited the city. After returning, we explored our surroundings and went to Lake Alpsee. In the evening, we went out to eat in the village and then everyone was tired and went to our room.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we hiked to Neuschwanstein Castle - simply a beautiful place and a mega castle. Then we went to Füssen and drove around Lake Forggensee with various rest areas.
