The 'winter' is coming

Gipatik: 31.05.2017

We will have winter soon in Australia, called 'dry season' here in Darwin. The wind blows a little more every day and it's getting cooler at night. During the day we have 30 - 34 degrees and at night 22 - 24 degrees (should cool down to 16 degrees in July). Now I wear long pants and a shirt to sleep. And Padi, who usually has breakfast on the balcony, now sits on the couch, it's too cold outside...

On Wednesday morning when I checked the temperature, we had 23 degrees at 6:30 a.m. and in Germany (11 p.m.) 24 degrees - it's not always warm in Australia either. ;) Unfortunately, we both caught a little cold - the first since we've been on the road. But according to the locals here, it's normal for this time of year, the body has to get used to 'the cold'. We haven't been using air conditioning for ages and the fan has been off for a week too.

Today marks 12 weeks since we left Germany. We have noticed that we have adapted to Darwin by now. We walk very leisurely/slowly, only wear flip flops and work shoes. The clothes are quite comfortable, everyone wears what is comfortable. Groceries from the supermarket are pushed home with a shopping cart and the cart is left on the street, they are collected again every morning by the supermarket. We found this strange at first, but now we do it too, it's just much easier than carrying them. The most important characteristic (which is good for us) is the attitude towards work and life. 'No worries', 'What doesn't get done today can wait until tomorrow', 'If plan A doesn't work, then take plan B - Z, something will work out'. This attitude would be good for German workers too, not always so much stress and no pressure, etc.
