Today is my second day on the island and Romane (my roommate) suggested that she shows us (me, Yasmine, and Celine) one of the many beaches here.
I was absolutely exhausted from yesterday's day and slept until 10:30 am, even though I was already in bed at 11:00 pm. Then I had to hurry because we wanted to leave at 11:00 am. So I quickly had breakfast with Yasmine and Celine on the terrace by the pool, packed my things, and off we went :)
We drove about three-quarters of an hour to the west because it is safe to swim there. On the way there, we could see the mountains perfectly, it was absolutely impressive. And we drove over a road that stands on stilts in the ocean (by the way, the most expensive road construction project in the EU ever). Then we were at the beach ... and fought with the waves :D The water shoes I had with me were totally worth it because the ground was very rocky and there were some animals that you should not step on.
After a while, we drove to another beach where you can see the sunset better. There we also ate something (I got a sandwich for €4.50 - an absolute bargain here).
At the second beach, it was not possible to swim there due to the extremely rough waves, but there was a kind of pool in the sea where you could swim.
In the end, there were really intense waves and you had to evacuate a large part of the pool so that you wouldn't be thrown against the walls made of rough stone by the waves...
Wave action
When we were chilling on the beach, a vendor came up to us and sold really delicious muffins, we couldn't resist and we all bought one, they were really soooo tasty. And the vendor was also really nice and not at all pushy.
Then the sunset came and it was unbelievably beautiful!!!
Although I had hoped to see whales, unfortunately there were none today. But don't worry, I will definitely see some at some point and then there will be photos too!!
The day was still so beautiful and I can't believe I've only been here for two days.
