Adlaw 28: Ang kasingkasing mabug-at...

Gipatik: 16.06.2019

Our last day on the island of Cres is dawning. It is cloudy and slightly windy today, making the heat bearable. We take advantage of the weather to take a trip to the small mountain village of Lubenice. The journey there is adventurous, as the road, bordered by stone walls, is just wide enough for a car to pass through. There are small passing places for oncoming traffic. Lubenice perches 400 m above the sea on a rocky promontory.

It is a tiny village with only about 20 inhabitants. Time has stood still here. From the parking lot, we already have a great view of a picturesque bay that lies 400 m below the village.

We walk around and let the place have an effect on us.

It's hard to imagine how people live here. There are no shops, no supermarket. Only about 20 houses, 5 churches, and a small restaurant. We settle down there and have a bite to eat. We would love to follow the example of other families and hike down to the small bay with its turquoise-blue, clear water. But we don't want to put our children through this today. However, we firmly intend to do so one day!

We spend the rest of the day at the beach with Marik's new buddy Jannis and his parents Anja and Torsten.

I go snorkeling again and admire the many fish frolicking near the shore. In the evening, we cook in the caravan and drink wine and beer with Anja and Torsten while the children play until they voluntarily want to go to bed. It was a beautiful day and a worthy conclusion to our time in Croatia.

We are sad that we have to start the journey back tomorrow. There are 2 stops planned on the way back.
