Uvita is located on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, approximately 17 km south of Dominical and 225 km from the capital San José. The town consists "only" of a collection of houses and a few stores, but it is the gateway to the Marino Ballena National Park.
The Marino Ballena National Park protects over 5,500 hectares of beach, mangroves, rainforest, and most importantly, marine areas.
The park became particularly famous as a calving ground for humpback whales. Whale families from the north come to the area from December to April, while animals from the south can be seen from July to November.
We are here for diving, and Frank has already successfully done it today. It's finally my turn tomorrow :)
Meanwhile, Sebastian and I explored Uvita at a local market (Mercadito).
We rented a wooden bungalow here, the most beautiful accommodation we have had so far, and there's even a slide into the pool. Sebastian can't be stopped 😂
On the way (which seemed to take forever ..) from Samara to Uvita, we stopped in Tarcoles and visited the crocodile bridge and a quirky restaurant with prehistoric creatures....
