The last two days were a relaxing sail.
On the way to Puerto Natales, I also visited Cuevas de Milidon (caves). The main cave was very crowded, but no one wanted to walk the 1.3 km to the middle cave, so I had it all to myself. Another wonderful walk.
My journey ends in Puerto Natales and in Punta Arenas, the southernmost part I have reached, right on the Strait of Magellan (53 degrees, 10 minutes south latitude). Across the strait, there is only Tierra del Fuego and beyond it Antarctica.
I liked both cities. Puerto Natales has the charm of a small provincial town and reminds me of Alaska, and here I had the definitely ultimate pizza to eat. Punta Arenas would have been worth another day (especially because of the penguin colonies sitting on two jetties that have been out of operation since 1940 and the magnificent cemetery). Tomorrow I'm going back to Germany.....
This is also where my diary ends, almost.... I will make one final entry in Germany……………….
