The Galapagos trip is coming to an end and we have to return to San Cristobal. This can only be done in two stages, first to the island of Santa Cruz and from there by the next ferry to San Cristobal. The ferry to Santa Cruz departs at 6:00 a.m. in Isabela, so we will be on Santa Cruz around 8:00 a.m. We decide to spend the day on the island and leave for San Cristobal the next morning, taking the flight back to Quito around noon. First, we check into our hostel. Then we take the public bus to Santa Rosa and walk to a ranch where turtles roam freely. After that, we explored a lava tunnel that we were able to walk through underground. One spot was particularly challenging. There was only a half-meter high passage that we could only crawl through. The way back to the hostel went smoothly.
