Cambodia - Angkor here we come ๐Ÿ‘

Gipatik: 26.10.2016

Today the alarm went off at 5:00 am๐Ÿ˜–! My personal nightmare ๐Ÿ˜ต, I am so tired! Our taxi took us to the airport at 5:50 am. Now we are sitting at gate 10๐Ÿ˜, waiting for our flight to Cambodia (Siem Reap) at 7:05 am.

We will spend the next 3 days there. Angkor, a huge city/temple complex, is on the agenda every day ๐Ÿ˜! We are really excited about it ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™ƒ.

But I am even more excited about our hotel this time, we got a 5-star hotel - with excellent reviews - for a great price ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ฌ!

We flew to Siem Reap in a propeller airplane. We had a weird feeling, but completely unfounded :-)... We landed in Siem Reap on time and the plane rolled up to a small hall. It was really cute, a mega small, super clean airport. What I have only experienced here so far, we walked the short distance from the plane to the terminal, it was really cool! The immigration/visa process went smoothly. When we walked out of the airport, there was a woman holding a sign 'Anki Bunk'. She told us she was our personal assistant for the entire stay at the hotel and would explain everything to us during the pickup to the hotel! Daniela and I looked at each other and were a bit surprised. Well, we enjoyed it. The car then drove up a driveway and we were almost speechless. How can this really be our hotel??? 'Guys, this is amazing, how can I best describe it'? The movie 'Coming to America' comes to mind...;-)))))) - the only thing missing here are the animals running around the premises!!! It is truly incredible and our room is dreamy. We will enjoy every second here!

Our tuk-tuk was ready at 12:00 pm. The driver took us to the Angkor Wat temple complex. It was my first ride in a tuk-tuk and it was really cool. The driver told us where to go and the visit to Angkor Wat began. Maybe an important weather information, it felt like it was 76.87 degrees outside and I suffered, oooooh yesssss, it is incredibly hot. Daniela said 'oh, the heat doesn't bother me'! ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜ฉ But we bravely visited all parts of Angkor Wat. I had already read a lot on the internet and watched a documentary about Angkor. But experiencing it for real is something completely different. It is unbelievable what the people built here many years ago. The reliefs on the walls and also the details of the small statues are fascinating. After 5 hours at Angkor Wat, we sneaked back to our tuk-tuk driver (I almost melted on the way) ๐Ÿ™† and the journey continued to Phnom Bakheng. I said to Daniela 'please let the ride last a long time ๐Ÿ˜‚, so I can enjoy the breeze from the tuk-tuk ๐Ÿ˜‚'! Phnom Bakheng arrived relatively quickly! It is a temple hill with an insane view of Angkor Wat. Luckily, the path to the top led through the jungle, so we were slightly protected from the sun. After taking numerous photos, we walked back and were really exhausted. Our driver then recommended a great Cambodian restaurant. We had delicious food there and replenished our energy for the next temples. :-))) However, we will visit them tomorrow!

Right now, we are lying by the pool and enjoying the beautiful outdoor area. We also have access to a sauna and a steam bath! So, don't worry about us... grins... we are doing very, very well!!!!
