01.11.2018 Overnight stay in Rio and onward journey to Armacāo dos Būzios.

After an overnight stay at the Intercity Hotel Porto Maravilha at the port, today we're heading along the coast to Būzios. Breakfast was also very good again and the hotel is perfect in terms of location and connection for a stay in Rio.

The view from the 18th floor in the morning is already impressive. But also the noise and stench of Rio😣

We try to get out of Rio and it takes us two attempts. The navigation system is not really reliable and the traffic here, despite the public holiday, is simply unbelievable. I don't think I know any city with such insane traffic volume and such insane drivers.

We manage to get out of Rio over the bridge, then the navigation system gets lost again. On the so-called highway, we encounter cyclists, joggers, pedestrians. There are also bus stops and cars sometimes come towards you on the wrong lane. No one really cares about that here.

In addition to sales stands on the shoulder of the highway, there are also school routes on and across the highway. Everything is very crazy here. At the toll booths, all the signs are only in Portuguese. How much you pay seems to depend on the mood of the day.

We go through 3 police checkpoints, they simply stop the traffic on the highway and give you a stern look. The highways here are 2, 3 or 4 lanes without markings and vice versa, people drive and cut like mad...drive against the traffic flow etc... I think they drink too much Mate tea ☕☕

Arriving in Būzios, the navigation system is completely overwhelmed here as well. It does not recognize any house numbers and leads us confidently into a dead end and claims that we have arrived🤔Street signs or signs are also missing here.

Doesn't matter, we somehow reach our accommodation.

Since we haven't eaten anything yet, we start with Caipis on the beach. It has become a staple food here now 😎😋

The beach life here is really relaxed and lively. Musicians walk around here and do acrobatics, plenty of vendors pass by with ice cream, drinks, bikinis and sunglasses.
