Apollo Bay to Warrnambool - Road Trip Day 3

This morning we woke up at 9 o'clock and had breakfast with a sea view in our hostel. Then we quickly packed our things and continued along the Great Ocean Road. By the way, we're getting better and better at packing things in the car. Today we felt like luxury when we realized how much stuff fits in our little car and how much space we still have.

Our first stop took us to a lookout in the Otway National Park. However, when we were still 4 km away, we discovered that the roads there were no longer sealed and therefore not suitable for our car. However, we enjoyed the view of countless herds of sheep and a hilly and green landscape. You could see very far and the mountain formations were simply indescribable. We, as city kids, were amazed there.

Next, we went to a lookout at Castle Cove, where we could admire the view of cliffs along the coast.

The Great Ocean Road continued through the Melba Gully State Park. We marveled at huge trees of the primeval and rainforest. This park stretched for several kilometers until we reached the Great Ocean Walk. We parked our car and walked on this walk to the famous Twelve Apostles and the Gibson Steps. By the way, there are only 8 apostles left at the moment.

The weather from this point on didn't play along as well as we were used to. Today it was quite cool. It also rained from time to time and was quite windy, which sometimes made us really happy to be back in the warm car.

But the journey continued to 'Loch ard Gorge' and the 'Shipwreck Walk'. These are also rock formations. At the shipwreck, we were slightly irritated that we didn't see any wrecks. After all, the coast is also called Shipwreck coast.
The view at Loch and Gorge was simply unique. The rocks have formed in such a way that a bay has been created. In this bay, you could go to the beach and watch the waves crashing against the rocks. There was also a stalactite cave to admire there.

Furthermore, we drove to 'The Grove'. Another rock formation. This time, a cave has formed.

On the way to Petersborought, we made another stop. This time at the 'Bay of islands'. Another rock formation. You can tell that today we looked at a lot of rocks. It's true and everything looked quite similar (blue water, yellow-brown rocks, and sandy beach), but every time you were amazed at what pure nature can create.

The next stop was 'Cheeseworld Allansford'. There you could taste different cheeses and also try other products from surrounding farms. It was very delicious. Especially the different types of cheese, like cheese with honey or roasted cheese, was something completely new and especially delicious.

After Cheeseworld, we had to realize 'That's it!'. The Great Ocean Road ended at the next intersection. As a conclusion, we all said that the Great Ocean Road is beautiful and especially diverse. It offers a lot: surfer beaches, large rock formations, infinitely large pastures with various farm animals, primeval and rainforests, waterfalls, small towns, and probably infinitely more. You should take the time to explore everything. Especially smaller stops were indescribable for us. We simply saw kangaroos and a koala in the wild!

We spent the rest of the evening shopping, cooking, and moving into our new accommodation in Warrnambool. We already feel very comfortable in the Airbnb room. The house is huge and we share it with the owner and another traveler. The room is very large and the house is decorated with various works of art.
