Feasting in Norwegian

Today is dedicated to cultural and culinary delights.

After all campsites were full and the "wild" spots were very nice - and therefore in high demand among campers - we were very happy to find a decent one on the side of the road late in the evening.

The weather is still changeable. So far, we have mostly been lucky to have good weather for outdoor sightseeing.

Even in the most beautiful fishing village in Norway (this time for real), the weather held up. Nusfjord is a kind of Stübing where the history and living conditions of yesterday's and today's fishermen are told.

After the toilet in the camper was full and the refrigerator was empty, we quickly went from the sleeping place to the Nusfjord bakery - a delight for the eyes and taste buds.

Short digression: The prices in Norway are not that bad. You can get 1 liter of diesel for €2.4, a very good lunch starting at around €22, and pizza and burgers of good quality starting at €17. Coffee costs around €3, very good and large breakfast pastries cost around €5. Anything related to fish is very good and of high quality and not available here. The supermarket prices are also okay when compared to Billa Plus - perhaps 20-50% more expensive. But it depends. Fruits have to be imported and are accordingly expensive.

Alcoholic drinks, however, are really expensive. A 0.33-liter beer with 5.4% alcohol content costs around €10, while a non-alcoholic one costs only €4.

But now back to Nusfjord. The chosen parking space had a quite steep driveway and when we drove down, we immediately tore off a brace for stabilizing the motorhome. It's annoying, but not a big deal. We only noticed the reason later. The left rear tire was missing a lot of air (2.5 instead of 5.5 bar). Unfortunately, the valve is leaking and the air rushes out as soon as the valve moves a little. We'll probably have to go to the mechanic again to replace the valve.

After Nusfjord, we went to Reine, which is also nice. Anita and Sina made a detour to A in the evening, the 'last' place in the Lofoten Islands.

In the evening, we went to 'Anita's Seafood' to say goodbye to Sina, who will be heading back to Berlin tomorrow. They had everything related to fish - and whale. From fish burgers, stockfish, to king crabs and whale steaks, you can buy everything there for home or eat directly at the restaurant.

There was also a small tasting plate with red and dark delicacies at the counter. Konstantin, of course, tried both. But the pieces got stuck in his throat when he found out that the dark meat was whale. He felt very guilty afterwards, but said that he still wants to become a marine biologist and protector of whales.
