We need a little freer day, on the one hand we made sure that water spilled in our suitcase yesterday, so we have to dry and on the other hand we owe the children a longer stay at the beach.

In the morning we drive 40km north of Salalah to see the incense burners. There are several thousand trees in Wadi Dawkah. We meet the gardener who takes care of them, he has them divided into 4 sectors and he waters one every week. He shows us 40-year-old trees, 70-year-old trees and 10-year-old small trees (the frankincense tree grows very slowly). Frankincense is a bad luck that is collected 2-3 weeks after cutting the bark, the first batch is white, poor quality, in the following weeks clear yellow and prized green are harvested. The tree yields up to 10 kg per year and they live for 100-200 years with good care. The tree has beautiful yellow flowers, which we were lucky to see. In addition to incense burners, there are also a lot of lizards, so David enjoyed himself. Frankincense is a highly valued raw material, in ancient times there was an incense trail through Oman, along which it was exported. Today, the whole of Oman is perfumed with incense, which emits a typical aroma when burned.

At noon we are back in the apartment and spend the afternoon on the beach, we choose the beach right on the edge of the city and it is not a bad choice at all, we are there in 7 minutes, the sea has a sandy bottom and big waves. Right next to it is a lagoon full of birds. There are not many people here, but they come in the evening, the evening on the beach is obviously popular here, but few people bathe, they come here to watch the sunset.
