12.04.2023 Child care project

Today I was helping out with the older kids (10-14years). Since it was raining we couldn't really go outside so we started the morning with some Playstation games. 

Though it was a slow start since most of the controllers had no battery or were otherwise damaged. Though after one of the workers made a quick shopping trip to the nearest game store we were able to keep going.

The sun came out for a moment so we quickly got everyone dressed and ready to walk to the nearest playground. All the playgrounds in Ireland are caged in to keep the kids in one place and also to keep people out at night so they don't break anything.

It makes sense when it's close to a street but this one was inside a park so it looks a bit weird. 

However the playground was actually locked when we got there. Which was a bit frustrating since it took about 30 minutes to walk here. A sign said that it was reserved for kids with disabilities. But there were no kids at all.

We called the management from the playground and didn't have to wait very long until somebody came by to unlock it. Else we would have had a few disappointed kids.

Anyway, the kids enjoyed themselves for about an hour before the rain started to return.

Can't trust the weather in Ireland.

In the afternoon the kids went to the cinema so everybody was placed into groups and got a lunch break before they all got picked up by the bus.

They have events like this every now and then, which I think is quite cool even though it means a lot of organization and sometimes 'frustration' for the workers to group up all the kids and get them ready.

Me and svea just helped out as best we could.

We probably could have joined in the cinema but there wasn't really a movie that I wanted to see, since I had already seen the D&D movie.

Instead we met up with Hannah after dinner and went bowling. Which all of us aren't really good at.

Hannah always manages to do a curve shot. The ball starts rolling towards the gutter but then starts changing direction mid way and takes out a few pins.

My shots felt like 50% complete misses and 50% strikes.

While svea had very consistent decent shots.

But I still managed to win. 

Tomorrow we will join another round of badminton in the evening. Even though my legs still hurt from last night.
