After a pleasant 8-hour night flight from Auckland, we landed in Honolulu on Oahu, Hawaii, at sunrise, and were driven to our hostel by a happy Hawaiian. Since our room was not ready until noon, we had pancakes and took a nap in the hammocks. In the afternoon, we explored the beach right outside our door: Waikiki beach âąī¸đ Unfortunately, I got sick again and spent the next 3 days with the flu in bed.... When I finally felt better, we did a lot of activities with the people from our hostel. First, we visited Pearl Harbor, where we could see one of the sunken warships from a bridge, and I even spotted a turtle ~Sonja? đ After a detour to Chinatown, we hiked to the famous National Cemetery. The next day, we went on a hike at the Ka'au Crater, literally climbing over muddy and slippery rocks and after 2 hours of climbing, we discovered a beautiful waterfall. đ đ´ However, we decided to turn back as the actual tour would have taken another 5 hours through the jungle. When we finally found our way back, Leigh-Wai (Hawaiian wheelchair user) approached us and asked for help planting flowers. After our gardening work ('you made Hawaii more beautiful today' đē), Leigh-Wai drove us back to the hostel in an exciting car ride, and we spent our evening once again with our new friends playing cards :) âŖī¸ While exploring the beautiful Waikiki Promenade and doing some shopping, we were startled by numerous homeless people, some of whom engaged in fights right on the street while being intoxicated. But the hula dancers at the beach during sunset quickly made us forget about it :) đ¯ââī¸ On our last evening, while packing our suitcases, we were asked to leave our room as the police had to remove an unwelcome guest, causing excitement throughout the hostel... But in the evening, we enjoyed our farewell drinks in a cozy atmosphere. đģ
