Galapagos Islands

A common dream came true when we decided to travel to the Galápagos Islands. After three days, 4 (normal) dives, and the first amazing animal observations in Santa Cruz, we boarded the 'Treasure of Galapagos' for 7 days. Already upon arrival, we were blown away by our group, the dear crew members, and the cool catamaran. We went to Isla Isabela, Isla Fernandina, crossed the equator, visited Rabida, and returned to Baltra. Snorkeling with turtles, sharks, seals, rays, penguins, and (aggressive) cormorants filled our days. Likewise, the walks on the islands with the giant tortoises and iguanas kept us on our toes. In the evening, looking out at the sea from the whirlpool, we actually spotted the fountain of a whale, and Marina even spotted its head. Jonas saw a huge tail fin in the afternoon and even a hammerhead shark from the boat. Dolphins even swam by during breakfast... it was simply incredibly beautiful!! What also makes us rave so much was our fun, mixed, international, and great group, and it was really hard for us to say goodbye.

At least our guide Pedro stayed with us a little longer, as he helped us organize the crossing, the last dive, and the overnight stay on San Cristobal. Pedro hadn't understated that his home island was something special. Here we experienced the original, relaxed and yet incredibly exciting Galapagos. The dives at Kicker Rock were unbeatable: Galapagos sharks (probably 20-30), rays, seals, turtles, barracudas, tuna, and when we surfaced, we spotted the long-awaited hammerhead sharks.
