From Châteauroux to Limoges, Day 14

Monday, July 31, 2023, Day 14Tonight we are 14 days on the road, 940 km away from Cologne (800 km by bike and 140 km by train), which keeps us very well in schedule, because in two weeks we have completed a third of the total distance and now we have over four weeks to cover 1600 km. Last night we decided to take a train day today because our legs need a little rest, because we couldn't find accommodation between Châteauroux and Limoges, and because we finally wanted to escape the bad weather. So we got on the regional train at 11:20 am and arrived in Limoges just before 1:00 pm in the summer. No clouds, no rain, no headwind, over 30°. The first time since the Eifel that we had real summer. We are so grateful that we were able to avoid the bad weather, that we have extended this decision to Bordeaux. Because even here it is supposed to rain for the next four days, so we will move through Bordeaux and continue from there towards the sun. Limoges itself is a beautiful city with an old town center, an impressive cathedral, old houses, winding alleyways, many brasseries and restaurants, and a real city atmosphere. In addition, we have a very nice, modern hotel here, for one night, because tomorrow we are already traveling on to Bordeaux.
