A lazy day + tourist program 2/2 (07.+08.07.)

প্রকাশিত হয়েছে: 09.07.2021

On Wednesday we slept until a whopping 09:00 in the morning. We haven't done that in a long time!

But it was much needed, although it sounds more relaxing than it actually was. We had another uninvited guest: the little mouse somehow managed to get onto the table and happily gnawed on the cooking flower and various bags.

Since then, almost everything lives in the car and is partially pre-cooked there.

Good thing we didn't have any plans, because the whole morning went by in slow motion. It's kind of nice, but at the same time annoying when you can't get anything done. By 12:00, we finally packed everything in our backpacks and escaped to the forest to avoid the midday heat.

Always along one of the countless turquoise rivers, over roots and stones. Beautiful!

We couldn't get enough of the colors. However, it wasn't completely safe with the very tired Ida.

We couldn't rely on her usually sure-footed legs, so we skipped a few photos for safety reasons.

That area was overcrowded anyway. Everything that the lazy tourist can reach within 100 steps from the parking lot is packed. Triglav is no longer a secret tip.

Nevertheless, we took sensational pictures and found a "quiet" resting place by the roaring Isonzo river. Just as beautiful as the Soča and just as cold!

Anyway, we clenched our teeth, squeezed our buttocks, and went through with it, even though it was freezing at 10 degrees Celsius (or -2 cm - the gentlemen know what we mean), and took a dip in the cool water.

And it was wonderful!

Temporarily wide awake, totally alive, and ready to face the afternoon slump before we wanted to go to bed early.

Tourist program 2/2

After a somewhat quieter day with a short hike and the big challenge of bathing in the Isonzo river, Thursday finally brought our zipline adventure with Socarafting.si!
From various visits to climbing forests and boulder worlds, we knew that Ida tends to have no problem with heights and especially enjoys the zip lines in the climbing parks! And since there are several providers offering cable car fun over several kilometers in the Triglav National Park, or especially from Bovec, the tourist program 2/2 was quickly found! 10 ziplines over a total of four kilometers, some 200 meters above the ground, caused some slight to moderate anxiety in all of us! But we had booked it and didn't want to miss out on this experience, especially after seeing the pictures and videos beforehand! Compared to the rafting tour, this time we got our equipment on before driving to the starting point. Well, it was only a harness, a helmet, and thick leather gloves, so we quickly sat in the minibusses and found ourselves at the practice line after a fifteen-minute (roller coaster) ride, where everyone had to practice braking with the gloves!
There was no time to think about the fact that we would soon be rushing over a 600-meter long steel cable, only armed with a safety harness (that's why it's called that, right?!) and flying over a 200-meter deep gorge! It had already been decided in advance that Ida would have to slide along the ziplines with one of the two guides, let's call them Maverick and Goose because of their sunglasses, because she was still too light and might get stuck halfway!
As a result, Ida was the first one on the line and started the adventure with Maverick without any hesitation, with an excited "Ready, steady, GO!" And off she went with a WHOOSH! After a hand signal from Maverick to Goose that the next rider could go, Lena pushed me forward and I shot down the slope. After 20 meters, the valley opened up below me with an truly incredible view in all directions, and of course also downwards! I was filled with a mix of exhilaration and awe. To be honest, there was also a bit of fear! When I arrived at the end of the first zipline, Ida was already beaming at me with glowing eyes and couldn't wait for the next ride! Lena also arrived with an expression of emotional confusion and found it just as hard to describe her feelings as our daughter did! So we zigzagged from one side of the gorge to the other on the first 2-3 lines, always accompanied by a few climbs down the mountain to the next station! When we arrived at an old farmhouse, Goose pointed out two old and rusty steel cables that also zigzagged down into the valley. In the past, hay was transported to the villages below on these cables, as it was much faster than driving it down with tractors! A relatively big disadvantage, and ultimately the reason for discontinuing this method: the hay bales would catch fire easily due to the speed and friction of the slide and would lose value! Fortunately, despite reaching speeds of over 60 km/h, we did not catch fire, and after the second ride, we were able to let go of our concerns and were excited to be hooked onto the next cable car (hehehe...)!The most amazing thing was the changing landscape with each zipline going downhill. At first, we were extremely high above bare rock, but on the last three lines, we were in the middle of the gorge, following the river below us towards the valley! Simply breathtaking views and an incredible feeling! After we returned to Bovec, we quickly went shopping and had a cold soda in a bar before driving back to the campsite. We weren't really capable of doing much, even though the day was only halfway over! Since Frida was also missing, Ida got into the hammock with an audiobook, so that we could just sit and read with a cup of coffee! But it eventually got too boring, so we went back to the Soča and surprisingly, we were able to go into the water relatively painlessly! It just can't be right to ignore such clear water for swimming! We used the evening for campfire and roasting marshmallows and ended the day with lightning flashes, wine, and Frida's parents!Tomorrow, we want to take the cable car again, but this time up the mountain and at a much slower pace! The Kanin cable car has been open for three days and we don't want to miss the view from even higher up!
