Departure day đŸĨē

Sleeping in, slowly starting to pack our bags, a little breakfast in between + a small farewell walk around our hotel grounds, and very importantly: don’t let it slip that JÃļrg has a birthday. Because then all the staff within a 100-meter radius will come over and sing loudly for him. I fully understood him; I didn't need that either. That’s how our day began.
During our walk around the resort, I was amazed to discover that our hotel has 5 pools, 2 of which have a bar + one for water slides. So a total of 6😅 And we didn’t test any of them đŸ˜ŗ
We caught up on that after we packed our 7 things and checked out. A shady spot was quickly found. Instead of birthday cake, we had a cocktail and jumped in the water. You couldn't stand it otherwise at 31°. At the beach, there was at least a gentle breeze, but heređŸĨĩ Of course, there was a lot of entertainment offered at the pool. Aquafitness, which we preferred to watch from a distance, flip-flop throwing, bean bag toss, or darts. JÃļrg played in the latter. There weren't really any rules, but it was all about having fun. Overall, it was quite amusing. However, the pools filled up quite quickly, and the first ones were celebrating loudly at the pool bars, okay,...😅 It was entertaining for a while, but we definitely didn't need that every day. We much preferred 'our' little palm tree on the beach. Oh, I also went to the turtle nest again. Nothing. Nobody hatched.
At 1 PM, we gathered our pool items, showered, had one last serving of mashed potatoes at the buffet, and then our airport shuttle was already ready. We were lucky again. Just one German couple from MÃļnchengladbach with us. They were both really nice. We checked in together at the airport, then our paths slowly but surely started to diverge. Although we were on the same flight, they were seated at the wing and we were in the last row. Just a note about the airport and the new Terminal 4: I love it. Victoria's Secret, Panda Express, Johnny Rockets, and they had my almond m&msđŸĨ° I hadn’t even found those here at Walmart. I boarded the plane feeling blissful.
The flight was quite uneventful again. There wasn’t much to see, Cancun was hidden under thick clouds. What was cool: over Fort Lauderdale, the sky was quite clear, and you could see the Hard Rock Hotel really well. No wonder with the guitar blinking in all sorts of colors. Otherwise, we were shaken a bit more than on the way there, but still within reasonable limits. What I must point out, though, is that this was the worst long-haul flight so far, both to and from. The staff was nice, but the overall service, the seats, the catering, well... Complaining at a high level, but I still want to mention it. SWISS and Singapore Airlines remain my number 1.

Back in Frankfurt, a temperature shock. 24 degrees colder than when we boarded the plane. What do you do? -Exactly, you take the shuttle to the car, pack the car, drive about 50 meters to the nearest Edeka, and buy some mulled wine 🤷đŸŧ‍♀ī¸
Then it was homeward bound. Here we were welcomed by the child and treated to a meal. There was even a freshly baked birthday cake for JÃļrg. Let’s keep it going like this😊
In the meantime, the suitcases have been unpacked, the laundry done, and we are lying lazily on the sofa, still fighting a bit against jetlag. I with writing a blog😉
Brief conclusion: It was another very nice vacation with super experiences. We enjoyed Mexico, and we definitely won't be going there for the last time. However, writing a blog about a purely beach vacation 😉 is a bit more challenging than about our adventure travels. I'm done. Until next time👋đŸŧ
