Kenting National Park

My next destination in Taiwan was supposed to be Kenting in the southern part of the country. And since Alisa had the same plan, I joined her and her four friends (three Swedes and one German). Together, we explored the national park on scooters. On the first evening, we visited the southernmost point of Taiwan. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, but that didn't stop us from walking through the rainforest the next day, where we spotted some monkeys and went on a rock safari. After nightfall, we were amazed by the infinite flames near Hengchun.

However, my highlight was receiving two kilograms of dragon fruit as a gift. Dragon fruit can be found everywhere in Kenting. After passing by some plantations, I decided to ask an older lady on one of the plantations if I could buy two pieces from her - or at least I tried. After some pointing and gesturing, the woman led me to a barn where crates full of fruit were stored, and a few older men were drinking tea. They were quite surprised to see me suddenly appear. But the dragon fruit picker didn't let this distract her and diligently packed numerous fruits into a bag, even though I tried to explain that I only wanted two. In the end, we received the whole bag for free and were even allowed to taste some fruit on the spot. I hope the Taiwanese ladies and gentlemen were as happy about our visit as we were about the fruit.

We spent our last (half) day in Kenting at one of the beautiful beaches, enjoying the sunshine.
