Costa Rica - La Fortuna

প্রকাশিত হয়েছে: 12.03.2017

Once again, we had to get up early to catch the bus to La Fortuna. You really lose a lot of time here due to the journeys and it's really difficult to get anywhere without a car. We are considering getting a rental car to be more flexible.

It had rained a lot on this day, so the path to La Fortuna was very muddy and hey, our chicken bus got stuck. It doesn't seem to happen often here because suddenly all the locals took out their phones and started filming :)

Unfortunately, our bus driver didn't really get it done, so we all had to get off and walk up the hill. The bus had to be towed by a truck. In any case, I was awake again afterwards :D

When we arrived in La Fortuna, we met 2 German girls with whom we rented a car for 1 day. Off to Rio Celeste. A really beautiful park with a great waterfall and the water of the river was glowing blue in some places. Swimming was not allowed and in between it really smelled bad... In hindsight, everything made sense: sulfur was the reason. The water gets its color from chemical reactions. It's fascinating because at the point where the rivers meet, one side of the water is completely normal and on the other side it's glowing blue. It's amazing what nature can do ;D

After our trip, it was clear to us that we definitely need a car and we then went to 'Alamo' to get information about renting a car for the next few days. We then reserved a Suzuki Jimny online because we knew that the rental company definitely doesn't have a Jimny in stock but only a more expensive and better model. Of course, we'll take that one too and it actually worked :D Great. Oh, and our hostel forgot to charge us for the second night. What more could you want :) We didn't say anything, of course. Guilty conscience? Yes, okay, a little bit, but hey, everything is so expensive here, I'm glad about every cent :)

The next day, we headed to the Hanging Bridges with our super rental car, but unfortunately the weather didn't really cooperate. It rained all day, and the rainforest definitely lived up to its name. We couldn't enjoy it as much, but it was still nice to walk on the bridges and look into the 'abyss'. They wobbled quite a bit too :) When we were done, it stopped raining. One of those 'Of course that would happen' moments, you know :)

Next stop: Manuel Antonio
