The sun is shining! Overnight, the mountain tops are covered with lots of fresh snow. A dream view even at breakfast! On the shores of Lake Wanaka, you can relax in the sun and soak up warmth. The place itself exudes a lot of peace and tranquility. There are many picnic spots along the shore and of course, many campers.

But one thing must not be forgotten: the sun in New Zealand is much stronger and the skin cancer rate is very high. Is it because of the ozone hole? In any case, even in cloudy weather, use sunscreen with SPF 50+ and wear a cap, hat, or cap for protection.

Sit comfortably in front of the VW bus for half the day and enjoy the beautiful weather with coffee and cake â˜ēī¸. A wonderful day to relax.

In the afternoon, I will continue to a campsite a hundred meters away for the next two nights, where I will finally fall asleep. The hustle and bustle and the efforts of the past few weeks are gone. My resting heart rate is back below 50, it feels great.

I enjoy the 'end of the day' in Wanaka in one of the cafes on the terrace. No plans for today. The two mountain tours that I had planned are not possible tomorrow due to the fresh snow. So it's all about waiting comfortably to see how the situation is the day after tomorrow. And I have plenty of time 😊.

In the evening, I cook in the kitchen of the campsite. Actually a good place for communication, speaking a little English never hurts. Wrong thought, the kitchen is full of Spaniards, where do they all come from? So Spanish is practiced, it was very funny, I love Spanish humor and open communication.
