There's really not much to say about Santa Marta. After returning from Ciudad Perdida, we laid in our air-conditioned hotel room for a day and a half, licking our wounds and catching a nasty cold.
On our last day, we went to the city beach, which was more or less right in front of our hotel. It is probably the ugliest beach in the world. No Caribbean vibe at all. Right next to the beach is the port, and the water doesn't look inviting at all. There were no tourists there, just the locals apparently. Santa Marta is known for its many beautiful beaches, but we were too tired to travel by boat or bus for several hours. And we already had the next 18-hour bus ride in (at least double-decker first-class bus) to Bogota waiting for us.
