Last day in New York and arrival in Reykjavik

The 15th of May was finally our last day in New York. We decided to go to the Upper East Side again. The rich neighborhood. There is a great brunch place. A bit more expensive but amazing food and interesting clientele. And by interesting, I mean very rich grandmas who just give $100 even though it only cost $17 :D Each of us had a Goldie Lox with white or brown toast. A Goldie Lox is scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and cream cheese. The place became famous for its homemade jams. So we also ordered a croissant with JAM :D When we were happily full and a few dollars poorer, we went to the Central Park one last time. We had now seen 4 different areas of it and I liked them all. It was very hot that day. It was 30 degrees. We almost forgot the time because of the intense heat. We had to leave Teresa at half past 3 because she was flying back home the next day, and we went back to our hostel to get our luggage. Then we took 3 different trains to the airport. We checked in and waited. The flight was delayed by 1 hour due to a storm, but we made up for it.

The last stop had arrived. We arrived in Reykjavik at 6:00 a.m. The flight was perfect. Since it was overnight, we were able to sleep well. There was a little scare in the morning because my luggage didn't come on the baggage carousel, but it turned out that my backpack, because it was so big, was placed in a separate room. Phew, thank goodness. During the last flight, I had already said to Tim, "Now we've flown so many times and our luggage has never been lost, we've been lucky." You always have to say something like that when it's over: D We then took the bus and a taxi to our Airbnb. It's freezing cold here. I am very grateful for my thick jacket and my rain pants! Anna is very nice and welcomed us warmly, but then she had to go to work.

We didn't do much on the 16th of May, except sleep and buy food for the next few days. In the evening, I took a walk around the block. It's just crazy. It gets "dark" at midnight and bright again at 4:00 a.m. The first night was confusing. I couldn't sleep well. It's not long now until we see our families again. 😊
